vdw 495 Universal-HaftBrücke is a bonding agent for laying pavers and slabs indoors and outdoors, e.g. for roads, terraces or garage driveways. Outstanding stability and very high adhesive bond with the bedding mortar. Ideally suited for setting and bonding garden wall stones.

Application

Requirements The sub-base and base course must be sufficiently level, load-bearing and water-draining and correspond to the expected loads. They must be dimensioned so that no harmful deformations occur. Ambient and substrate temperature > 5 °C, max. 30 °C.

Tools Drill with mixing paddle, water hose, brush, trowel, notched trowel, spirit level, rubber mallet.

Mixing the bonding slurry To produce a slurryable mortar for brushing or dipping, mix vdw 495 Universal-HaftBrücke homogeneously with 7 litres (per 25 kg of dry mortar) of clean, cold water using a suitable stirrer for approx. 2 minutes. To produce a stiff mortar for application with a notched trowel, mix vdw 495 Universal-HaftBrücke with 5 litres (per 25 kg of dry mortar) of clean, cold water using the mixing time stated above. Stiffened mortar must not be made workable again with either water or fresh mortar.

Mortar application Apply the mixed bonding slurry generously to the clean underside of the slabs using a brush, by dipping, or with a notched trowel. The paving provided with bonding slurry should be laid onto the still-fresh bedding mortar ("wet on wet"). vdw 495 Universal-HaftBrücke must be protected against rapid drying out. The open porosity of the bedding in the joint area must be maintained.
