Joint Consolidator
vdw 870 Joint Hardener is a free-flowing binder for closely laid slabs, concrete paver and clinker pavings from 1 mm joint width — for hardening the quartz sand filling and for crack repair, e.g. on garden paths and terraces.
Requirements Stable, load-bearing, permanently water-permeable substrate suited to the expected loads. Joint depth > 10 mm, joint width 1 to 5 mm, outdoor and object temperature from 10 °C, max. 30 °C.
Tools Pressure sprayer, hard-rubber squeegee, coconut broom, sponge.
Test area With natural stone and concrete paving, contact between vdw 870 Joint Hardener and the stone surface may cause visual changes, such as darkening and/or staining. As a general rule, we strongly recommend laying out a test area.
Preparation Clean the surface of the object to be hardened until residue-free.
Hardening the joints Soak joints filled with quartz sand (grain size 0,3 to 0,8 mm) with joint hardener until saturation.
Finishing Immediately remove excess joint hardener with a hard-rubber squeegee and coconut broom. Pick up residues with a damp sponge.
